Why I joined Rotary: I was invited to join the Rotary Club of Ryde in early January 2002 and I now wonder at a life without Rotary. My children had completed schooling, meaning the end of P&C and sporting club involvement. I wanted to continue contributing to my local community and Rotary was the proverbial “door opening”. What a door!
Not only do we put back into our own area but we participate in communities worldwide. I stand shoulder to shoulder with like-minded professionals, business leaders and other committed citizens as we assist locally and internationally in various avenues of service. I have learnt to speak publicly, to organize meetings, projects and events and I have rediscovered a sense of belonging to my community. This is leadership training of the highest order! But, very importantly, I’ve had a ball being involved with such a positive, motivated group of achievers. I look forward to continuing to grow with Rotary.
