Tree Of Joy

Tree Of Joy

One of our favourite annual programs is the 'Tree of Joy'.  It is a program that involves the whole community, providing an opportunity to reach out and help those in need.

A simple and powerful idea, we place a Christmas tree in a shopping centre, and local charity groups hang envelopes on the tree with the details of needy children in the district.  Shoppers choose which child to support, based on their story and their Christmas wish.  They buy a gift for that child and that gift is delivered to the family for Christmas.

Ryde Rotary introduced the program to Australia many years ago and it has become a huge success around the country.  This year, why not reach out yourself and shine a little light in the life of a child in need?

Top Ryde City
The Top Ryde Tree is on the Food Court level of the Centre next to a Surf Shop. The presents go to the Centre’s Information Centre on the same level.

The Eastwood tree is outside Woolworth in the Eastwood Shopping Centre.  The presents have to be returned to the centre’s management office on the second floor of the attached office building.

West Ryde Marketplace
The West Ryde tree is in the West Ryde Market Place Shopping Centre, opposite the Commonwealth Bank. Presents to go either to the Commonwealth Bank or to Mitre Ten Hardware Shop around the corner of the Centre (Ron Taffa).
