Tree Of Joy
One of our favourite annual programs is the 'Tree of Joy'. It is a program that involves the whole community, providing an opportunity to reach out and help those in need.
A simple and powerful idea, we place a Christmas tree in a shopping centre, and local charity groups hang envelopes on the tree with the details of needy children in the district. Shoppers choose which child to support, based on their story and their Christmas wish. They buy a gift for that child and that gift is delivered to the family for Christmas.
Ryde Rotary introduced the program to Australia many years ago and it has become a huge success around the country. This year, why not reach out yourself and shine a little light in the life of a child in need?
